Radiant Dark is one of several very cool offsite events taking place the week of the Interior Design Show. It's on at Made Gallery, 358 Dufferin Street in Toronto, from February 5th to 8th. Rachel Pulfer of Azure caught up with Canadian designer Barr Gilmore to discuss his contribution: the Shinny lamp (shown) which was made from, what else, hockey sticks. Gilmore also spoke about his work with Canadian art collective General Idea, what, to him, constitutes contemporary Canadian design, and what it was like to be culture jammed by The Economist...

For the January edition of Smart and Green, Paige Magarrey reports on new textile design collective Puff&Flock’s debut at the Interiors Birmingham last week. Products range from solar-powered textiles that light up when the sun sets, to a shower curtain that attacks users who stay too long. Clearly, it's possible for textiles be both eco-smart and stylish. But are these designs actually feasible? Let us know what you think.
