Designs on Food
For Azure’s 25th anniversary, we explore the role of design in an all-consuming subject. There’s a profound shift taking place in the realm of what we eat, how we eat it, and the social and political climate around food. In carbon-guzzling North America, urbanites are getting into farming; SUV drivers are choosing to shop at local markets instead of in supermarkets; and countless creators are answering the call of such issues as pollution, obesity and global food shortages. The following ideas consider many ways to rethink cooking, eating and growing – and food’s relationship to landscape architecture, graphic design, product development, interiors and more. We hope you brought an appetite.
